All players making a contribution to the pot will be eligible to receive Player Poker Points.
For example, the total bet in a pot is $20 (note that uncalled bets will not be a part of the pot size), of which a player contributed $8. The rake of this pot would be $1, and the player’s contribution would be 40% of the pot. 3.6 Player Points are awarded and the player will get 3.6*0.40=1.44 Player Poker Points.
Quick Tips for Acquiring Player Poker Points
- If you are a low stakes player, acquiring points is still possible. Before selecting a table to play, first check the average pot size and flop percentage at your desired stake level. Tables that have a high flop percentage or higher average pot are more likely to provide you with more Player Points.
- It is typically easier to acquire Player Poker Points in no limit games – even at the .25/.50 stakes level. If you are a tight and disciplined player, low stakes no limit can be very good for accumulating points while not risking a large portion of your bank roll.
- Perhaps the best tip for acquiring points is to be observant and patient. It is a good idea to watch the table you want to play before leaping in. Determine if the type of play at that table is best suited to your game.
Good luck and have fun!
