PlayFirst wanted to come up with something different than their other card games and that’s when the idea of Poker Pop came to mind. Poker Pop is a game that borrows elements of poker and combines them with the memory skills of card matching games. In Poker Pop, players use their home computers to embark on a journey that takes them all over the world. In order to make it to the next region in the game, the player must solve the Poker Pop puzzles by matching the game’s tiles to create poker hands. Each level represents a different country and order to win at this strategy game you need to travel all over the world. Countries like Australia, Fiji and Japan are all represented by graphics and music that are unique to that particular region. "At PlayFirst we're focused on new ideas in interactive entertainment," explained Kenny Dinkin, the vice president and executive producer of PlayFirst. "Poker Pop fuses the simple charms of tile matching with the compelling fun of good old-fashioned poker. It teaches the novice with a great tutorial, while challenging the expert with all kinds of perils and strategic choices. With its fresh gameplay and around-the-world theme, Poker Pop is an innovative blend of casual gaming and poker playing fun." The designers of Poker Pop feel they have created a game that people of all poker skills and interests will play. In the nearly two years since PlayFirst first came onto the gaming scene they have been responsible for putting out from fairly popular games. One of their biggest hits was the game Diner Dash, where players control the day-to-day running of a struggling restaurant.
