Playtech, an Internet gaming software group, has reported a 172% increase in net profit on new contracts, as well as an eight-fold increase in revenue from its poker dealings. The firm’s first set of financial results couldn’t sound better; adjusted net profit in the 6 months leading up to June 30th were reported at $37.3 million. The firm is confident the rest of the year will be much the same. Partly responsible for the rise in profit were the seven new licensees that Playtech picked up in the earlier part of the year – who between them run 140 gaming sites. Chief executive, Avigur Zmora said “As a result of our various initiatives, the global markets, in which we hold strong positions and the continued growth being enjoyed by the online gaming market worldwide, I look forward to the second half of the year with confidence.” Visit Hollywood Poker's Online Poker Tournament section.
