Second season of GSN’s High Stakes Poker to be shot in April

May 2, 2006

Fans of the Game Show Network’s (GSN) High Stakes Poker can catch more of the poker show’s action, with another season shot on Apr. 10th and 11th. This poker show is different from many other poker shows with its players putting thousands of dollars, and sometimes millions of their own dollars, on the line.

Some of the best players in the world of poker will flex their Hold’em muscles for the High Stakes Poker audience. Pros like Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, and Sam Farha will be among the poker professionals sitting at the poker tables. The show was shot at the world famous Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

"As the only poker cash game on television, this series lets fans learn how the poker legends play when risking huge amounts of their own money," explained Rich Cronin, the president and CEO of GSN. "High Stakes Poker has exceeded our expectations and we are looking forward to the second season for this exciting, one of a kind poker show."

The first season of High Stakes Poker was a huge success for the GSN, and according to the network’s statistics the show has increased their share of Monday night viewers by 79 percent. In addition to having some great ratings, High Stakes Poker has received a great deal of critical acclaim from both television critics and the poker community.

The show’s announcers, AJ Benza and Gabe Kaplan, will return for the second season of High Stakes Poker and will offer colorful commentary on the dramatic poker games.

"Every week on Tuesday after the show, I get calls from my poker friends from all over the country telling me how much they enjoyed High Stakes Poker," said Henry Orenstein, the poker show’s producer. “They tell me that they love the show because this is real poker with real money and you can learn a lot from it."
