There are some big changes coming to the Monarch Casino & Resort. Stockowners were recently told there will be a massive expansion at the company’s Atlantis Casino Resort with construction starting during the last quarter of 2006.
Monarch Casino & Resort used the meeting as a platform to discuss the expansion plans for the Atlantis Casino Resort. The building will have an extra 116,000 sq. ft when construction is completed. When the changes are made there will also be an extra 40 percent more room on the casino floor. The race and sports book room will grow, the poker room will become enlarged, and more restaurants will be added. Another feature of the expansion is the update of the spa and fitness area – this, coupled with the addition of a ballroom will make the Atlantis Casino Resort even more of a tourism hotspot than it already is.
However, these changes will not come cheaply. It is estimated that the total expense of the project will be $50 million. Monarch Casino & Resort predicts that the upgrades will pay for themselves. The Casino is still waiting for the City of Reno to give the okay on a proposed pedestrian skywalk.
