Find out how to clear the tables at a game of Omaha!
|
|
Let us start by highlighting that an Omaha poker game is extremely similar to a game of good ol' Texas Hold 'em. However there are two main differences players need take note of, which are:
- players receive four pocket cards - instead of two as in Texas Hold em'
- a player's hand need consist of two cards from their pocket four and three community cards, to make the best possible hand
Fundamentals of both games however remain the same, with anywhere from two to ten players allowed to play at a table at one time and the winner is distinguished by the strongest hand at the table, taking home the pot.
How do we play, let's start here:
- The players to the left of the Dealer begin the game by posting the blind bets. The player on the Dealer's left posts a small blind bet while the player on the Small Blind's left posts a big blind bet
- Four pocket cards are dealt to each player at the table
- The action begins in the first round, when the player to the left of the Big Blind either raises, calls or folds
- In the second round called the Flop - three community cards are dealt and a round of betting follows. Players can either check, call or raise
- In the third round called the Turn - the fourth community card is dealt and another round of betting entails.
- In the fourth round a fifth called the River - the final community card is dealt signifying the final round of betting.
- The remaining players then use two of their pocket cards and three of the community cards to create the best five-card high hand possible.
- At Showdown, players compare hands to determine the winner and the player with the highest hand wins the pot.
To try your hand at Omaha, head to HollywoodPoker's Tournament section and register to join a game right now! |
