Turn up your STAR power: Play the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic!

Starting in January, the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic will be packed full of MORE star appeal and MORE ways to win. We’re thrilled to announce that Josh Malina, creator of Celebrity Poker Showdown and star of The West Wing, will be hosting the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic for the entire month – and he’s bringing the deals with him!

How does splitting $1,000 sound? If you’re a monthly finalist on the Hollywood Poker Classic Top 5 Leader Board, you will win a piece of $1,000, depending on your overall standing at the end of the month. Your moment of victory doesn’t end there though: If you’re one of the top 5, you also get to play in an exclusive online $1,000 tournament with Josh Malina and 4 of his Celebrity friends. The Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic takes place every Sunday at 2pm EST and we’ll begin tracking tournament results on January 8th, so start practicing now!

Are you ready for the $10K Freeroll Week III?

Your first shot at tons of money in 2006 is just over a week away. On January 10th, Hollywood Poker is hosting our third $10K Freeroll Week. This exciting week consists of 4 ascending value freerolls, cumulating with a $4,000 freeroll on January 14th. Of course, the beauty of the $10K Freeroll Week III is that it’s free to enter. This means there is no buy-in and you don’t have to exchange any Poker Points to enter – all you have to do is accumulate them. You will be awarded tickets into the freerolls based on how many Poker Points you acquire between December 5th at 12pm EST and January 9th at 5am EST.

There’s still time to make sure you cash-in on all four freerolls!

Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational: Meet some Classic Celebrities!

After the wildly successful Halloween Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational in October, we’ve decided to host another themed Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational on January 12th. Same time, same great Celebrity Bounties, but this time your favorite Celebrities will be adopting the identities of their favorite classic film and television stars. Last time, Hollywood Poker players were joined by the likes of Bette Davis, Groucho Marx and Captain Hook. You never know what unlikely Celebrity you’ll find yourself sitting across from this time!

The Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational is held every Thursday at 10pm EST, which means you’ve still got two more weeks to get your A-game in high gear.

In this week’s Spotlight, meet msdebbie1!

Everyone at the tables knows me as msdebbie1, however, being such a familiar face around the site, everyone just calls me ‘Debbie’ or ‘Deb’. I started playing Hold’em poker in 2000 at another site at the invitation of a friend. I first played with play money as I really had no idea how to play poker or even which hands beat which hands. My love for the game grew very fast. My poker skills unfortunately took longer since my daily limit of play money constantly ran out. I never let it get me down as I was also having fun and making a lot of new friends from around the world. As my poker playing got a little better I decided to try playing a little bit with real money. I never made a killing at the tables but I made enough to want to go a little bigger.

My new poker friends then introduced me to the wonderful world of Hollywood Poker where the freerolls were frequent and you didn't need to have points to collect your winnings. The number of players in the freerolls at that time were only a couple of hundred and I found myself on the final table quite often and earning some cash that allowed me to play in larger real money tournaments for free. The number of players in the freerolls has greatly increased since I first began playing them here, however, I still do fairly well at them. I don't play the freerolls as much as I used to as I now like a faster return on my time and stick mostly to playing Sit ‘n’ Go’s or tournaments. I love playing the Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational Tournament and try to play it every week. Yes, I've even won some money playing in it - and if I can, anyone can!

The players at this site are pretty great. The chat during the games is a lot of fun and it allows you to get to know the other players. Although it's no fun to get bad beats, everyone needs to be a good sport about it since it happens to us all and is part of the game.

My wish for the holiday season is:

1. I never lose again on an all-in call!

2. That everyone gets a royal flush at least once so they can feel good and brag about it!

3. That all my Hollywood Poker friends have a joyous and prosperous New Year!

I want to wish all my friends at Hollywood Poker a joyous holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year.

It’s been an incredible year here at Hollywood Poker. I’ve met some amazing people, got to play against tough competition and I’ve enjoyed being a part of a great poker community.
