The WPT Bellagio Celebrity Shootout on December 3rd is marked on my calendar. The clock is ticking, get busy and get it on yours! I won my entry at a Sit’n’Go Qualifier tournament about a week after I joined Hollywood Poker. Texas Hold'em, is not a new game to me. I've been playing online poker for five years and table poker since the tender age of eight. Let’s just say I'm over 40, and leave it at that, ok? Since I've joined Hollywood Poker, I've had so much fun and excitement. Right now, I'm toning up some of my skills and techniques for the strong competition in the WPT Bellagio Celebrity Shootout. But, being the professional players that you all are, you know as well as I do: IT'S ALL-IN THE CARDS! See you at the tables! ~DiamondGirl
Look to DiamondGirl for some serious competition on December 3rd! Don’t worry if you haven’t got your game plan worked out - there’s multiple ways to enter and above all, there’s still time!

Player Spotlight: CHEFBOBBY27!
Hi there my name is CHEFBOBBY27 - everyone knows me as CHEF. I'm from a small town up in Northern Ontario Canada. I have a family 2 kids and a wonderful girlfriend. I've been a chef now for about 10 years and work at a resort. In my spare time I'm always on Hollywood Poker playing ring games or tourneys.
I found out about Hollywood Poker in a rather strange way. I was at my local movie store and I had picked up a copy of a poker movie. Standing beside me was another guy who had grabbed the same movie and we started to talk about Texas Hold’em. He had asked me if I ever tried online poker. At the time I never had. Then he asked if I saw his picture in the local newspaper where there was an article about him winning a tourney online. Apparently, he was on his way to L.A. to compete in WPT Celebrity Shootout Tourney. He had told me that he had won his trip and buy-in online at Hollywood Poker. He told me next time I’m online go and check it out. So I did and that was 6 months ago.
I've been a member of Hollywood Poker for about 6 months now and have enjoyed every moment on here (except for some of the bad beats that I've received - but that's poker.)
I've tried out other sites but swear that this is the only true poker site online that offers you great ring games and a great selection of tournaments. I truly enjoy being able to play tourneys with celebrities sitting beside you and not being afraid to talk to you. I enjoy many of the players on here. They are very nice and always say ‘hi’ when I log on and say hello. The support staff is always very helpful and very nice to talk to. I try and get all of my buddies and friend to come on here if they want to try online poker and they all say this is the best pure poker site online has to offer. Hats off to Hollywood Poker and all staff, celebrities, and players. You've all made my time on here worth every penny. Here's to you and many years to come. See you at the tables! ~CHEFBOBBY27

Write to Win: Celebrity Sightings!
CELEBRITY SURPRISE
The world of poker includes some well-known celebrities. In playing against them, I have often found them to be greatly different than I expected.
Telly Savalas, television’s Kojak, was a frequent and respected tournament player. Unlike his TV persona, Telly was a quiet, low-key, and courteous man. He was one of 60 players that I was competing with in the Commerce Club (LA Open) $120 buy-in super-satellite for a $5000 entry fee into the No Limit Hold’em final event. Second place would get $2000. After playing some of my best poker for over three hours, everyone was eliminated but Telly and me. The two of us then played for 40 minutes before a sizable crowd. It was exciting and great fun as the lead changed hands several times. Finally, I bet all my chips. Telly called without hesitation and turned over AK. He smiled as I turned over QQ. (It was a classic no-limit confrontation). But before the dealer could put out the next three cards, Telly suggested we split the first and second place prize money since “neither of us deserves to lose.” I accepted his offer and we shook hands. When he got his $3500, he popped a lollipop into his mouth and headed into the LA night.
It was Saturday fight night at the Mirage Casino in Las Vegas in the early 90’s. After the fight, comedian Richard Pryor took an empty seat in the 30-60 seven-card stud game that I was in. He softly said hello and put down in front of him his drink, a pack of cigarettes, and $10000 in one hundred dollar bills (considerably more than anyone else). When his Atlas-type bodyguards pulled up seats on either side of him, our eight-player game appeared to be 10- handed.
Over the next 2 hours, Richard smoked all his cigarettes, had 4 or 5 drinks, played 90% of the hands, and lost $5000. At all times he was a perfect gentleman. He tipped generously when he won and complimented the winner when he lost. Never did he crack a joke. Much to my chagrin and frustration, he only seemed to win when I was in the pot. When he left, everyone at the table except me had substantially more chips. I had lost over $800.

Vince Van Patten's Corner: WPT Foxwoods
I just drove up to Foxwoods, which is where we are filming the next WPT event. Foxwoods is the biggest poker casino in the nation and this is our fourth year filming there. This WPT tournament has 800 players in it who’ve bought-in for $10,000 each. The show is shot Friday, November 18th and the final table will be on Friday night.
I think a truly distinctive element of the Foxwoods experience is the drive there. You’ll be in the woods for a long time and then you suddenly come upon this massive casino! It’s amazing. On my way up, I got to enjoy being surrounded by trees and beautiful fall colors. You can’t beat it – it’s such a great drive!
