When I was on the tennis tour, it was all about the homework – in other words, training. Same goes for poker – or anything else you want to excel at in life actually. It takes discipline and heart to be able to ride out the ups and downs.

Player Spotlight: Schaf!

Hel-lo fellow poker players! My name is Sarah Schafran, though you all know me as Schaf. I am a 23-year-old pre-med student as well as self-employed in the cosmetics industry (and poker pro hopeful!). I live in Wyandotte, Michigan; a quiet, waterfront suburb just south of Detroit. I attended college at Eastern Michigan University where I began playing Hold’em. My grandfather taught 5-card draw to me as a child, which will always be a favorite poker game of mine. I began playing NL more avidly about a year ago, polishing up my skills and getting used to player psychology, strategies, and tells of opponents at different types of tables and tourneys.

I'm the "try everything at least once" kinda gal. I like to test my luck because you never know if there is something you might be BORN TO DO, unless you give it a shot! I would love for poker to be my thing! I came to Hollywood Poker in support of my lifetime friend, Hollywood Poker model Ashley Dorenzo, who is quite the poker player. Not only is Hollywood Poker my favorite site, but my ONLY site. I refuse to play anywhere else! Every time someone speaks about poker, I refer them to Hollywood Poker and promote it like it's my job! Who knows, maybe next year I'll think about trying out to be a Hollywood Poker spokesmodel!

I do believe that a player's alertness has a lot to do with their game, so no more late night games! Yes, there are "good luck/bad luck" days, but truthfully, you can win on the "bad luck" days, after all, it's ALL IN how you play your cards! I've been told that I play quite tightly, so since, I have changed my game and I feel as if I have almost no tells with my new strategy, so maybe you'll just have to check it out for yourself at the tables and let me know what you think!
