He likes us because we provide him with a much needed rest from motorcycle demolitions and his 12 year old daughter and 4 year old son. I started playing poker late last year and have since become obsessed with all things poker. A friend of mine took me to The Grand Casino in Biloxi - my first casino trip ever. After discovering the non-stop alcohol, and after getting pretty loopy, I stumbled (literally) into the poker room.
The next thing I know, there’s a new online place to play and James Woods was hocking it on the radio. Whenever I’m playing in a big tournament I personally always try to practice getting to the table gracefully. This involves being well rested and putting on the best me I can possibly put on. I like going for a run or going to the gym – it helps me relax. It’s never good to be too geared up or too anxious because it will block your intuition. Remember: You have to be patient and ready to go for the long ride. I also think it’s a good thing not to show up early. There’s too much hype before the tournament and it can easily put nerves on edge. Also, don’t be awed by big name players. Just treat them like any other player you want to knock out. Anyone can do this if they honestly believe that.

Now, I had seen Texas Hold'em on TV, so of course, I was THE EXPERT on the game. As I settled down into my first ever real game of live poker, I quickly realized why I wasn’t on the WPT. It only took two hands to show me that I was NO expert - but that didn’t keep me from playing.
