 Get Ready: 4 WSOP Tournaments

This year Hollywood Poker is hosting FOUR WSOP Tournaments, so your chances of revelling in poker fame and fortune have never looked so good.

Pick your tournament and get ready to play your best for the opportunity of a lifetime.
Hollywood Poker’s WSOP Tournaments include:

1) World Series of Poker – Freeroll Your Way to Fame

*Starts March 15th at 7pm EST! Exchange 100 Poker Points to enter.*

Daily Qualifiers in the 3 months leading up to the WSOP, each daily event will guarantee 10 tickets to the Freeroll Main Event. 
Main Event – July 7th: Winner will receive a $12,500 WSOP prize package.
*All cHp Walk of Fame players will receive free entry to this event. 

2) WSOP Celebrity Shootout

The WSOP Celebrity Shootout is scheduled for July 8th and will be a NL Texas Hold’em direct buy-in event that will offer a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000 and the WSOP prize package worth $12,500.  The winner will receive the prize package and cash prizes will pay from 2nd place down with a flat payout structure.
*All participating Celebrities will have $100 bounties placed on them.

3) World Series of Poker – clubHOLLYWOODpoker Freeroll

Exclusive WSOP clubHOLLYWOODpoker Freeroll! The winner will receive a WSOP main event package valued at $12,500.  1st place gets a $12,500 WSOP prize package and the $5,000 monthly prize pool will pay from 2nd place downward.
*All players who achieve cHp Titanium status (during the month of April) will receive entry to this event.

4) WSOP Leading Lady Tournament

Stay tuned for further information for the ‘Ladies only’ Tournament with prizes paying from 2nd position downward. Grand winner will receive entry into the Ladies Only WSOP event.

In this week’s Spotlight, meet MinusMonkey!

This is me, the one, the only Monkey named Minus.
 
The reason I chose this name is because of my dog. His name is Minus. We named him after the amount of cash I was missing from my pocket book after I bought him. The monkey part it is also him in a way. He whines for a treat and it sounds like a “ooo aaaa oooo”, so he’s my best bud.
 
Anyhow, I am a 26 year old male who lives in a small hick town in a province. I have been all over since my dad was in the forces. I moved everywhere, but of course I was born in PEI so I decided I would move back to where I was born. (Big Mistake). Talk about boring.  They’ve got a movie theater and a pool hall. That’s about it besides the beaches. Ahhh, those are great.
 
My poker. Well, see, I never did like poker until a friend showed me how to play and I got addicted - but why not right? The chance to win money? Everyone likes that. My friend is also the fella who won that big anniversary special at Hollywood Poker back last year. If you don’t believe me his nickname on Hollywood Poker is lilRichy4. He taught me how to play and that’s why I can play well.

Anyhow, I think all the people in the lobby are great and I’ve met some really cool people here.

Write to Win: Other Casino Favorites

Unless I’m playing poker at a casino, I’m not playing anything. Life is all about moderation and I try to keep my gambling right in line with how many times a week I eat fried food...well, maybe a little more than that actually. Point is, if I had to pick another casino favorite, it would have to be rail-birding – and not in the “too nervous to join a table sense.” If I’m not at the table, I’m watching other players; I’m taking notes on common betting patterns and types of players. Having this outsider’s perspective is invaluable later on when I’m actually at a table. When in a game, it’s too easy to get caught up in the moment and sacrifice strategy and common sense for ego. Still, if I can think back to my hours of observation, it actually helps put the game in check; I can see the moment without my pride pushing me on-tilt. This is not to say I’ve never let my emotion get the best of me and botched a hand, but not as much as I’ve observed some players. At the end of the day, my rail-birding has kept me coming out on top, so it can’t be a totally useless theory.
