Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic: New Celebrity Host!

He’s a well known presence in the tournament lobbies, he’s formidable competition at the tables, he’s a respected actor, and musician and during the month of March he’s packing an added $2,000 into the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic as its host. Yes, I'm talking about Ronny Cox - one of Hollywood Poker's esteemed Celebrity Players.

This weekend, the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic is packing more star-power than ever before. Not only are we thrilled to announce that Ronny is hosting the tournament for the month of March, but 5 Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic hot-shots will be playing in a $1,000 online Celebrity tournament with Josh Malina, Donnie Wahlberg, Nicole Sullivan, Mimi Rogers and Josh Charles. You can watch this tourney on Saturday, March 4th at 2pm EST.

Want your chance to go head to head with the Stars? Luckily for you, Ronny’s got you covered. Like all of our Celebrity tournaments, the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic offers Celebrity Bounties up to $100 and an added $500 to the prize pool, but when you join Ronny in the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic for the month of March, you’re playing for a slice of $1,000 and a seat in a private online $1,000 Celebrity tournament with Ronny and 4 of his fellow Celebrities. We’ll be tracking the top players in the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic and come month’s end those top 5 will split $1,000 (individual percentage depending on overall standing) and also win their way into an exclusive $1,000 Celebrity tournament. Celebrity Poker Night with Erik Palladino

We're thrilled to announce that the next Celebrity Poker Night will be hosted by Erik Palladino (ER, U-571).

Every week Celebrity Poker Night is hosted by a different Hollywood Poker Star. Last week, we witnessed another record turn-out for Celebrity Poker Night with Ronny Cox -and it's not hard to see why. Not only is Ronny one of Hollywood Poker’s most beloved and befriended Celebrity Players, but he came to the tournament packing some extra excitement. Any player who knocked out a Celebrity scored an autographed copy of Ronny’s acclaimed double CD Ronny Cox at Sabastiani Theatre as well as an ever-popular $25 Celebrity Bounty. Congratulations to everyone who snagged one of Ronny’s CDs!

Celebrity Poker Night is held every Tuesday at 10pm EST. Pull up a chair with the Stars next week and join us!

Dream of playing in the WSOP? Good news: Hollywood Poker could make your dream a reality.

We are now giving you a ‘sneak peek’ into the 4 events we have planned for the WSOP. Please stay tuned for further details in the upcoming weeks.

1) World Series of Poker – Freeroll Your Way to Fame

Daily Qualifiers in the 3 months leading up to the WSOP, each daily event will guarantee 10 tickets to the Freeroll Main Event. 
Main Event – July 7th: Winner will receive a $12,500 WSOP prize package.
*All cHp Walk of Fame players will receive free entry to this event.

2) WSOP Celebrity Shootout

The WSOP Celebrity Shootout is scheduled for July 8th and will be a NL Texas Hold’em direct buy-in event that will offer a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000 and the WSOP prize package worth $12,500.  The winner will receive the prize package and cash prizes will pay from 2nd place down with a flat payout structure.
*All participating Celebrities will have $100 bounties placed on them.

3) World Series of Poker – clubHOLLYWOODpoker Freeroll

Exclusive WSOP clubHOLLYWOODpoker Freeroll! - Winner will receive a WSOP main event package valued at $12,500.  1st place gets a $12,500 WSOP prize package and the $5000 monthly prize pool will pay from 2nd place downward.
*All players who achieve cHp Titanium status (during the month of April) will receive entry to this event.

4) WSOP Leading Lady Tournament

Stay tuned for further information for the ‘Ladies only’ Tournament with prizes paying from 2nd position downward. Grand winner will receive entry into the Ladies only WSOP event.


$15K clubHOLLYWOODpoker Freerolls: Move on Up!

In this week’s Spotlight, meet Avaxx!

I saw a previous Extra and read the Player Spotlight about the woman who honors her family with her screen name. I have a story too.
 
I was living a nice life. I had a good career and wonderful family when I became ill with Rheumatoid Arthritis in my thirties. I have lived with daily pain and disability for many years now and while my take on it is "Hey, I still have a wonderful life and fabulous family", sometimes the inability to live a more normal life does overtake my generally good attitude.
 
I endure the pain with as much grace as possible, but I have a very competitive spirit and my body is crippled and cannot take me to victories in tennis, golf or any sport at all anymore. It is hard to always watch and never participate.

Until now. Now that I have discovered online poker, my life has become full of fun and excitement. When I wheel my chair up to the Internet poker table, I'm just like everyone there. I am equal, at last. I can compete on a level playing field and take real pride in my wins and learn from my losses.  These feelings have been missing in my life and online poker has restored some of my confidence and has given me exciting, challenging opportunities each and every day. I am so grateful my friend introduced me to the thrills and excitement of Texas Hold'em online.

We are absolutely delighted to have Courtney Friel on board as the newest WPT host. Obviously, she’s one of the most beautiful girls in the world but she also has a great attitude. She’s learning very quickly and we are incredibly lucky to have her with us.

Courtney has actually been with us 7 months and when she first arrived, I tried to introduce her into a couple of games. She’s definitely made herself welcome with myself, Mike Sexton and the whole crew! After a few months, I found out that she was hosting a late night game open to everyone in the crew. She’s hooked and she’s definitely accepted as part of the WPT team.

We have an episode with Courtney airing next week, so you can see her in action then.
