Celebrity Poker Night with Brad Sherwood This past Tuesday’s Celebrity Poker Night with Willie Garson marked our biggest tournament to date. Not only did the excitement and banter in the lobby entice tons of players to join in, but the fact that Hollywood Poker promised to donate proceeds to Willie’s charity of choice, amFAR, drew a record number of players to the tables. A low buy-in of $5+.50 and $25 Celebrity Bounties probably also lured a few players to their computers. Of course, we also owe much of this tournament's success to our host, Willie Garson, who was a hit! Even though players sent their condolences to Willie after he was knocked out in a tough hand, they were evidently thrilled to have him entertaining everyone in the tournament lobby. By the end of the night, the dedication of our players raised $1,000 for amFAR. On behalf on everyone at Hollywood Poker, I’d like to thank all who played for their support. It’s because of you we’re gaining a reputation as one of the top poker sites for charitable contributions. Next Tuesday at 10pm EST, you can join us for Celebrity Poker Night with Brad Sherwood. After an incredibly successful career on the Emmy nominated show, Whose Line Is It Anyway? Brad has teamed up with Colin Mochrie to create An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood – a highly interactive and audience participation based improv show that’s being hailed as hilarious and innovative by audiences around the nation. In this week’s Spotlight, meet JimMorrison8!
Hi everybody. I have currently been playing poker at HollywoodPoker.com for around one year now. It’s a great site and I have met lots of super neat folks.
My game of choice is No Limit Texas Hold’em, but I also enjoy Omaha (Hi and Hi/Lo) and 7 card stud.
Currently I am unemployed and gamble on the side for extra income. Working is for suckers, poker is an honest trade - at least that’s what my mother says.
You can usually find me in the lobby chatting it up with all the super fantastic players on HollywoodPoker.com. My greatest accomplishment in life is when I won the $5.50 Easy Money tournament once. (Well, I almost did. I took a bad beat at the final table and got 10th.)
Anyway, I hope to see you around. Don't be afraid to say “Hello” or “‘Sup Jimbo” when you see me at the tables taking your chips. (Just kidding.)
Good luck and may all your cards be pocket aces and your chip stacks smaller than mine. (Once again, I’m just kidding.)
~JimMorrison8

Write to Win: Poker Pet Peeves
My biggest pet peeve at poker is people who fold out of turn. Although there is no penalty for folding, someone who continues to fold may be asked to leave the table. A lot of people say, "What does it matter, I wasn't going to call anyways."
Well the best example is in a three-way pot where the middle person has to decide if they want to call a large bet. They are thinking the first person is bluffing but they are tempted to fold because they only have second pair and there is person behind them who has called every bet so far. Suddenly, the third person folds and the decision has been made easily. They call and the first person whips the cards into the muck. The first person will obviously be angry with the play. They may have not bet if there was only the two, thus saving themselves money.
So anyone who reads this and does fold out of turn. How would you like it if you were the original better?
~Beast778
Congratulations Beast778! You've won a tournament ticket!
Express your creativity by entering Hollywood Poker's popular Write to Win contest. If your entry is chosen as a finalist, you could win a ticket to the Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational or the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic.
All you have to do is write about the week’s topic and send it to hollay@hollywoodpoker.com. I’ll post all articles that qualify in the ‘Center Stage’ section of the Lounge where your fellow players will vote for their favorite article. Aside from the prestige and praise you’ll receive for your rhetorical brilliance, if you win you’ll also score a tournament ticket.
Next topic: Prepping for a Big Game.

Words from Vince Van Patten, WPT Host and Commentator
My wife, Eileen Davidson, is a pretty good poker player, though she doesn’t usually have much time to play. She likes to get into as many pots as she can – like mine. We’ve played poker together a couple of times and she’s given me a run for my money. She’s beat me a few times.
Women have definitely made a name for themselves at the tables. In season four of the WPT, you’ll see the amount of women at the final table increase. I don’t want to give anything away, but the amount and quality of women in poker is truly impressive and you’ll see proof in upcoming episodes of the WPT.
