Celebrity Poker Night with Willie Garson

Hollywood Poker Sponsors Charity Copper Mountain Tournament

On Saturday, January 21st Hollywood Poker had the honor of sponsoring a charity poker event at Copper Mountain. Celebrities gathered to ski and play poker to raise money for the Summit Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting community based programs. I just recently began playing poker online 6 months ago but have played poker since I was a young man, taught by my father.

I am a retired Lieutenant Firefighter/Paramedic. I spent over 25 years serving the citizens of South Florida. I recently moved to Georgia, 80 miles northeast of Atlanta, and spend most of my time tending to my 5 acres and playing poker with the wonderful friends I have made at Hollywood Poker.

I originally played on another site but found the players here at Hollywood Poker friendly, exciting and very fun to play with. I especially like the idea of meeting and playing Celebrities, Hollywood Poker Calendar Girls, musicians, professionals, executives, and just plain folks like me - many of whom I have made online friendships with. I also find that the support is extremely helpful and always courteous.

I recently had the distinction of winning both the Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational Tournament and the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic  in the same week ! I also collected a Celebrity Bounty on Ashley Dorenzo!

I also think it very thoughtful of Al N Smithee to set up a tournament for all of us to enjoy. And I do appreciate the Hogs and Hags tournament too.
I mostly play tournaments but you may also find me at a Sit ’n’ Go like Hidden Hills or Bonner Ave with all the usual suspects.

I just received my free Hollywood Poker hat today and will be wearing it for the good luck it is sure to bring me as I play.

Write to Win: Your Spouse & Your Poker!

My wife and I live in Summerside PEI, Canada. We both play a lot of poker - and I mean a lot of poker. One night I was watching her play on Hollywood Poker and told her she sucks only because it gets her cranky and I love to start a fight. She ended up winning that freeroll. From then on I learned for to make sure I tell her she is going to lose or she sucks and maybe she will win me more money.

I do have to say though, my wife is way better than me at poker, but she will never be the Monkey. I am and will always be the main monkey at the tables - a whipped monkey at that, but still the monkey. So remember all you out there that even though the nickname on here is MinusMonkey, if I am winning it’s the woman playing and when I lose and chat it’s me.

Words from Vince Van Patten, WPT Host and Commentator

Being able to read another player’s betting pre and post-flop is like putting a puzzle together. There are a lot of variables that you have to consider.

For one, you have to have experience to put a player on a hand; You have to be enough of an experienced player to be able to have a good feel for the game and you have to have experienced the way the other player operates at the table.

Many players develop betting patterns and these patterns become predictable. That’s why great players change up their playing style all the time.

Know your players. Take time and feel them out before jumping to conclusions.
If you have a non-gambling player betting in the early position, chances are he has a high pair or an A,K. Now, if the other player is betting hard in the late position, you should consider that he might just be taking advantage of the button.
