In less than one month, summer will be in full swing: school will be done for another year, and the poker chips will be flowing at the World Series Of Poker. It doesn’t matter what your poker skill level is, or where in the world you call home – every poker fan will be keeping their eyes glued to the World Series of Poker action that will be taking place at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino.
The WSOP is going to be 36-years-old this year, and with professional poker players like Josh Arieh, Jennifer Harman, Erick Lindgren, Juan Carlos Mortensen, Evelyn Ng, David Williams and Daniel Negreanu, this year’s World Series of Poker will be as exciting as ever.
There are some people who think they have what it takes to make their way to the WSOP’s poker tables, and many of these people will make their way to Sin City to try their luck at the poker tables of Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino. Many before have made the trip, all with varying amounts of success – some with riches and some with gained debts.
Poker is one of the few high-profile activities where someone can go from a $5 poker night winner with their buddies watching, to a WSOP champ overnight with the entire world watching. Being a famous poker pro has many more perks, more than winning a lot of big pots. These players are surrounded autograph-seeking-fans, endorsement deals, book offers, and many other interesting proposals.
However, the road to Vegas is not as glorious as many would think, leaving jackets and long-sleeved shirts behind in the closet, making your way through the desert. The city is filled with traffic during the WSOP – the only thing keeping you sane while driving is your over-worked-air conditioner and dream of poker pro stardom. A self-financed gambler will need to be up for an investment with a heavy buy-in and jacked up room and food prices.
At the end of the day these obstacles only add to the charm of the World Series of Poker. The car running on empty and upcoming discussion with your wife about you holiday budget will take a back seat in mind once you’re at the poker table, heads up against the world’s best poker players.
