Troy "Hollywood" Hanson has passed his rookie test and been approved for competition in the Indy Pro Series, the official development series for the Indy Racing League. "It was a blast to finally get behind the wheel," Hanson said, "I was very comfortable in the car and got up to speed quickly. We ran a little over 100 miles and also did a few practice restarts."
The Hollywood, California native turned his first laps on the Homestead-Miami Speedway road course, then traveled to the Nashville Superspeedway to take on the 1.33-mile oval. Hanson set a fast 27.22 second lap at Nashville, travelling at 171.93 mph.
"Troy is going to make a great addition to the Indy Pro Series,” said team owner Michael Crawford. “He's quick, enthusiastic and has a ton of charisma. Nashville is a tricky place to make an oval debut, but Troy took it in stride."
Hanson added, "I want to thank Hollywood Poker, Michael Crawford and the team, as well as Butch Meyer for making all this come together. I am really looking forward to racing in the IPS this year and I think we have everything it takes to put forth a competitive effort."
Hanson formerly drove for Team Lexus, the factory Lexus race team, in the Grand American Cup Series. You may also recognize Troy from TV where he hosted the motorsports and celebrity segments from Spike TV's "Super2NRtv."
