 "The Nine" is a complex character-based drama series that will unravel the mystery of what transpired during a 52-hour hostage situation in chronological flashbacks that open each episode. One fateful morning nine strangers ended up in a Los Angeles bank when all of a sudden two men lock the doors, pull their guns and announce a bank robbery that will "only take five minutes." However, 10 minutes into the first episode, it's revealed that the bank robbery has gone terribly wrong as the police arrive on the scene. SWAT storms the bank, rescuing the hostages and capturing the robbers, but leaving two people fatally wounded. The nine survivors are now banded together as an unlikely family, as they re-enter their lives and grapple with how this bank robbery has changed them and their lives forever. The heart of the series is how that traumatic experience impacted our key characters in their present day lives, as they continue to intertwine, deepen and complicate their connections to one another. Revolving through police, legal and medical worlds, the series is one of hope and rebirth, as the characters continue to reinvent themselves in a positive way or are haunted by fateful decisions from which they're still struggling to recover. Nick Cavanaugh (Tim Daly), the police detective with a complicated past, is caught in the center of the standoff with these nine strangers. Malcolm Jones (Chi McBride) is a kind and patient branch manager of the bank whose sheltered daughter, Felicia Jones (Dana Davis), is shattered by the bank crisis. Jeremy Kates (Scott Wolf) is the hotshot surgeon to whom everything in life has come easily. Jeremy is dating a compassionate hospital social worker, Lizzie Miller (Jessica Collins). Eva Rios (Lourdes Benedicto), a single mom and bank teller, is sparking to a new romance with Nick, while her party girl younger sister, Franny (Camille Guaty), is the bank teller who got Eva her job at the bank. Kathryn Hale (Kim Raver) is a career-driven Assistant D.A., Egan Foote (John Billingsley) is a suicidal nebbish who becomes an unlikely hero, and Lucas Dalton (Owain Yeoman) is one of the two bank robbers looking to change his life. In the upcoming episode on October 18 “What’s your Emergency”, Hollywood Poker’s Josh Malina plays Assistant DA Tim Marley. In the episode Kathryn goes back to work in court. Although she is still on top of her game, she can't disconnect from the events of the robbery. Meanwhile Felicia tries to regain her memory of what happened inside the bank and Jeremy is in emotional disarray over something he did at the hospital. Genre: Drama
