"Runaway" is a new series for 2006 that stars Hollywood Poker's Donnie Wahlberg. He joins "24" alumnus, Leslie Hope, in this show about, you guessed it, running away.
The Raders are the family featured on the show; a normal, middle-class, American family. There is the Dad, Paul Rader, his wife Lily and their three children, Henry, Hannah and Tommy. The twist is that they're on the run from the law, attempting to escape from the legal system that falsely convicted Paul Rader (Wahlberg) of a terrible and violent crime. They use secret identities and are trying to blend into a new life in Bridgewater, Iowa. However, the real killer is onto them and threatens the lives of the Rader children. Paul and his family work to find themselves a new life, uncover the evidence that will grant them their freedom and all the while, hope no one will accidentally discover the secret that could ruin everything.
The first episode saw a few storylines beginning to develop. Paul takes a job as a line cook in a restaurant; the children begin to attend school, with Hannah already taking an interest in a boy she meets there. There is even some quick thinking on the part of Lily, making up a story about being a Hurricane Katrina survivor when pulled over.
"Runaway" is the work of ex-"Sex in the City" producer, Darren Star, ex-"Law & Order" producer, Ed Zuckerman and is a production of Sony Pictures Television.
