Hollywood Poker’s Yancey Arias has set up the Lives To Save natural disaster relief Foundation to combat Hurricane Katrina. Yancey, star of Kingpin, Thief and American Family, is hosting a Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament to benefit this Foundation. Hosting alongside Arias will be Hollywood Poker’s Nicholas Gonzalez, star of Resurrection Blvd, The OC, and Anacondas, and Vincent Laresca, star of Empire, Lords of Dogtown, Coach Carter and 24. The First Annual Celebrity Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will take place Sunday August 13th, 2006 at 12:00 PM on the 3rd Floor of the Hollywood Park Casino, located at 3883 West Century Blvd Inglewood, California.
Players of the texas hold’em poker tournament must advance purchase buy-ins for $200 at www.livestosave.com in order to guarantee a seat. Payment is through Paypal, where both the player and the organization shall receive proof of receipt for their donation. This is the recommended way to purchase a seat. Buy-ins will also be sold, along with a receipt, at the casino on the day of the event, but only if seats are available.
The format of the tournament: Up to 400 players can participate, with re-buys available during the first hour of play. Knocking a "bountied" celebrity player out of a game shall award a $50 cash prize (there will be over 10 of these bounties). The last five players at the final table shall receive a cash prize with the winner earning the highest amount (it is estimated that, at 200 players, the grand prize will be no less than $5000!)
