Hollywood celebrity player Mimi Rogers stars in late actress Brittany Murphy's last film, "Abandoned," which according to Reuters will be released this summer. This psychological thriller produced by Barry Barnholtz and Jeffrey Schenck has been reportedly picked by Anchor Bay Entertainment for distribution.
In the film Murphy plays Mary Walsh who brings her boyfriend, Kevin (Cain) to a hospital for routine outpatient surgery but he mysteriously disappears. Mimi Rogers plays the hospital administrator named Markham, who can find no record of Kevin. The police search also reveals nothing until Mary receives a ransom demand.

Roger's roles include Diana Fowley in the TV Series The X-Files, Dawson's Creek and The Loop. She also appeared on the cover and posed nude for the 1993 edition of Playboy magazine.
Anchor Bay's president Bill Clark said, "It was important to Anchor Bay that the timing of this release be right, because we're sensitive to such a tragic loss. We also recognize that Brittany's (Murphy) fans will want to see her amazing work." However, fans find this move pretentious, "buying a movie that features a dead star, hoping to make some extra cash."
