
Shaun Toub who plays at HollywoodPoker.com is an actor in prime time. He is best known for the role as Farhad, an Iranian mistaken for an Arab in Crash which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2006 as well as a total of 42 other wins and 63 nominations in all award shows.
A dapper man with the suaveness of his upscale Persian roots, his career is currently soaring with The Kite Runner which has received two Golden Globe Awards nominations for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Score.
The Kite Runner created major buzz worldwide in response to the book of the same title by Khalid Housseini. It tells the story of Amir, a well-to-do Pashtun boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, who is haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son of his father's Hazara servant.
Toub, who has appeared in more than 100 films and TV shows since the 1980s, brings the pivotal role of Rahim Khan to life in the big screen.
Toub was raised in Manchester, England before moving to Switzerland at the age of 14. After a two-year stay, he crossed the Atlantic to Nashua, New Hampshire to finish his last year of high school.
His high school yearbook notes: "The Funniest guy in school and the most likely to succeed in the entertainment world." After two years of college in Massachusetts, Toub transferred to University of Southern California where he attended film school. Through a chance encounter with an astute talent agent while working in real estate sales in Los Angeles , he broke into the Hollywood scene.
His filmography includes his memorable performance in Michael Bay's Bad Boys with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, John Woo's Broken Arrow with John Travolta and Christian Slater, Mick Jackson's Live from Baghdad starring Michael Keaton and Helena Bonham Carter for HBO, and Path to Paradise with Peter Gallagher, Marcia Gay Harden also for HBO.
Toub who currently resides in Los Angeles, has also received accolades for several of his appearances in television including Seinfeld, the Sopranos, ER, Just Shoot Me, Nash Bridges, JAG, The Bold and the Beautiful, the New Adventures of Superman , Married... with Children, Lost and various movies made for television.
He can be seen next in Marvel Comics adaptation Iron Man as Professor Yinsen, which will be released on May 2, 2008. Directed by another HollywoodPoker.com celebrity Jon Favreau, the upcoming Iron Man also stars Robert Downey Jr in the title role, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Samuel L. Jackson and Bill Smitrovich.
