Hey gang it’s been some weeks since I’ve had a chance to write about my latest experiences. I’ve been kind of licking my wounds after my early exit at the World Series Of Poker main event. I’ll spare you the bad beat story. That’s strictly amateur hour. Ok, I can’t. How about I went all-in before the flop with my pocket Jacks. The Mike Tyson hand called me down. I call the A, Q the Mike Tyson hand because it looks strong but usually gets beat. Anyway, Tyson won this fight and I got KO’d and sent packing first day, first hour in the lovely Vegas 120 degree heat.
After many cases of beer later, summer went by pretty well. But I think everyone at Hollywood Poker took a step back after the tragic passing of our good friend, Michael Woods, James’ brother. May God rest his soul. My thoughts and prayers go out to James and the entire Woods’ family.
In the last few weeks of summer, the World Poker Tour started back up with our annual Ladies Night event with the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. A very attractive 6 made the table. Jennifer Tilly, last years champion was back to defend her title along with J.J Liu, Anahit Galajian, Kelli Griggs and two young ladies who could be mistaken as professional models, Erica Schoenberg and Vanessa Rousso. It was a fun one and is expected to be one of our highest rated shows of the season. In the meantime I’m just laying low finishing up on my poker novel (I’ll tell you more about that in a few weeks), trying to rebuild my gambling bankroll and betting and watching sports on TV – that is when I’m not doing family time. Actually my family time is right in the middle of all these activities. Don’t look at me like that. You know what they say: The family that gambles together has bad beat stories together. Not really. Not all the time at least. In fact it’s all in moderation; in between homework and prayer time. Hey, don’t blame me; my father had me selling pencils at Belmont Park Race Track at age 9. But things worked out OK.
‘Till next time, play smart, gamble only what you can afford and stay out of my pots.
