Hello poker pals. How are they running? I just got back from Miami Beach for a 4 day promotional stint for our site, Hollywood Poker. It was a cold snap there – the air temperature went down to the sixties, believe it or not. But the ocean water in South Beach was a beautiful 76 degrees. I swam a lot and enjoyed South Beach, though it was complete chaos being Spring Break and all and the crowds were out of control. The first night Hollywood Poker sponsored a musical event called ‘The Ultra Music Festival’ on the streets of downtown Miami. It was a major outdoor concert where half a million people showed up to listen to some of the world’s hottest bands. The Killers were one, along with a slew of other bands who are obviously very famous but I’m not going to pretend like I knew who they were. The crowd loved it! Hollywood Poker had a huge tent with banners everywhere, with poker tables inside. I played at the tables, gave some pointers and I think the rock-stars and everyone included had a nice taste of poker while listening to some relaxing heavy metal music blasting through the gigantic speakers. The next day, after getting my hearing checked by a local doctor, I was ready and fit to go to another spectacle: The Indy Race Series at Homestead Miami. Hollywood Poker is now sponsoring an Indy Race Car and this was a sensational event. I got to meet and hangout with our driver, Rookie Pro Troy Hanson – a great guy and a very talented one too. I made the rounds, shook hands, did the Pulse interview on ESPN and did another interview with People Magazine and just had a really good time. I also really got the bug for the sport of Indy racing. On the day I left town I had the morning off, so my tennis friend set me up with a tennis practice match with one of the great women players of the world today, Anna Kournikova. That’s right, it’s a tough life, but somebody’s got to live it. I met Anna, she was lovely, we started to hit. Within 10 minutes she apologized and said she was going to bag it because of the wind. I understood. She was very gracious and we planned to do it again in the future. Now, I’m beginning to wonder: Maybe she spoke to Pete Sampras and why are these tennis champions ducking me? Agassi, I’m looking for you. ‘Till next time, good luck and stay out of my pots.
