Sic Bo

Overview

Sic Bo is an exciting dice game. The game originated in China, and its name means Dice Pair. It's easy to play!

The object of Sic Bo is to successfully bet on the throw of three dice. You can bet on a single number coming up, or a pair, or a triple (three ones, three twos, etc.), or the total, or various combinations of numbers.

You bet before the dice are shaken, and all bets are settled when the dice come to rest. Winning areas on the table are lit.

Bets and payouts

The Sic Bo table has several separate betting areas.

If the total of the three dice is 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 and the throw is not a triple, bets placed in the SMALL area located in the table's top left corner will pay 1 to 1. Similarly, if the total of the three dice is 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17 and the throw is not a triple, bets placed in the BIG area located in the table's top right corner will pay 1 to 1.

Any bet in the SMALL or BIG area loses if a triple is thrown.

Double and Triple
Between the SMALL and BIG bet areas are the double and triple bet areas. Here, for example, you can bet on a double six or triple six being thrown.

If a double is thrown, winning bets in that double's bet area are paid at 11 to 1. However, if a triple is thrown, a winning double bet is only paid once. Therefore, if you want to bet on triples, you should use the triple bet area: if a triple is thrown, winning bets in the triple bet area are paid at 180 to 1.

For example, John bets $10 on double five and $5 on triple five. Three fives are thrown. John wins $10 x 11 = $110 for his double bet and $5 x 180 = $900 for his triple bet. His total winnings are therefore $1,010, which is added to his chip rack. His initial $10 and $5 bets remain on the table.

Any Triple
In the middle of the double and triple bet areas is the ANY TRIPLE betting area. Bets placed in this area pay 31 to 1 if any triple is thrown.

Total
Beneath the double and triple bet area is the TOTAL BET area (numbered from 4 to 17). Here you can place bets on the total sum of the three dice. The possible totals pay different odds:

Total Payout
4 or 17 62 to 1
5 or 16 31 to 1
6 or 15 18 to 1
7 or 14 12 to 1
8 or 13 8 to 1
9 or 12 7 to 1
10 or 11 6 to 1

For example, if a 2, 3, and 4 are thrown, the total is 9, and the odds paid are 7 to 1.

Pair
Beneath the total bet area is the PAIR BET area. In this area you can bet on different combinations of two dice being thrown.

Winning bets are paid at 6 to 1. If the pair can be made two ways with the three dice, the bet pays out only once.

1 to 1 bets include the color bet red/black, the even bet even/odd and the hilo bet high/low. By making a 1 to 1 bet, you cover 18 numbers. All 2 to 1 bets cover 12 numbers.

Number
The bottom row of the table is for bets on a single number from 1 to 6. If the number is thrown on one dice, the bet is paid at 1 to 1. If the number is thrown on two dice, the bet is paid at 2 to 1. If the number is thrown on all three dice, the bet is paid at 12 to 1.
